Mother's Day "Performance"

3/5/2014

Backdate until finally reach May already. Haha.

On 3rd May, I think Punggol YEC had some event going on at Meridian (punggol) for Mother's Day. Let's just say target audience wise isn't really for the young people so we were pretty bummed despite already expecting it.

Everyone got bored while waiting and JP decided to snap candid shots of us.

p.s. don't worry guys, I took out the really embarrassing ones.

No pictures of us on stage but we had quite a few videos.

Really happy that my mum came down to watch along with my aunt although it was nothing huge, in fact it was just a really eeny meeny tiny performance.

She's really like my no.1 fan, always making it for my performances and whatnot, trying to find a spot that has a clear view of me and take photos/videos. My mum is really supportive of me and I'm so proud of that :)

Although it was a really small perf and we didn't really practice super hard for it, but I've still learnt quite a bit from it and am pleased that we managed to put together a performance that consists of genres that may not be our individual's "specialty". I mean, I never thought that I'll ever do Bgirl, let alone do it on stage! *mini achievement unlocked*

Look out for SoulVibe! We may be small now, but we'll continue improving until one day, we'll be a force to be recognized. Fighting!

Meaningful Events: Throwback

Throwback to weeks ago when I attended my first few dance events.

18/4/2014

On Good Friday last month, I attended my very first dance workshop!

Signed up for J-Black's workshop at Natasha Studio.

Super cui hair that day from running to the place (b/c I'm late) and crazy legs routine in his class.

Bring Them Out! Battle Event

Decided to take another step further out from my comfort zone and participated in my first ever dance battle!

It was actually supposed to be an amateur battle but there were almost 140 participants and from the auditions, there were quite a few (a lot actually) who are not-so-amateur. I mean, there were even people who were in Top 16 for Dance@live -.-

Needless to say, I didn't get through the auditions but it was a really fun experience nevertheless. It really opened up my eyes to the Singapore dance scene and I have learnt quite a lot from this experience.

I guess I would be more willing to participate in battles and events in the future after this. I mean even if I might not get pass the auditions as well, it's gonna be fun & exciting! Like when I went out there my mind immediately went blank and I didn't know what the hell I was doing, which in turn made me listen to the music more and just HAVE FUN and ENJOY dancing to it. Looking forward to attending more of such events in the future! :)

30/4/2014

It was a day before our 9th and because we would be spending the entire day practicing with the crew, we went for a date the night before :)

Had dinner at Lola's Cafe.

Drinks were awesome! Iced chocolate is rich, thick and smooth; Iced mocha was the perfect harmony of chocolate and coffee.

JP's stew was better than my fish and chips. Like way better. According to him, it might be because we eat fish & chips more often and thus might have higher expectations. To me, the fish were fried too crispy and so I had more flour than fish. It also made it really difficult to cut into pieces, and the board it was served in didn't help because it was too small.

Dessert was good although we were too full to properly enjoy it.

Caught Brick Mansions after that and it was a really good movie. Of course a good part of it is because Paul Walker starred in it, but I really liked how I understood most of the show and couldn't find any loopholes in the plot. Hahahahaha. I'm really annoying when I discover loopholes.

Please go and catch Brick Mansions if you haven't. We caught it twice now and still find it awesome!

Decided to walk back home from Nex after the movie. It was a really crazy idea because we have to walk from Nex (Serangoon) to Punggol, after a movie that ended at around 1am and we had to wake up early for practice the next day, and the practice will take the ENTIRE day.

Cafe Hopping

13/4/2014

Impromptu decision to go cafe-hopping on a random Sunday.

1st cafe: doodle! & switch! at Millenia Walk

We had no specific cafes in mind to try out so we decided to just walk around anywhere and head in to any cafe that looks appropriate.

Was walking around Millenia Walk since google shows that there's quite a number of cafes there. Decided to give this a try for our mains.

Overall the food was not bad, and they had this concept of mix-and-match pasta with ingredients and sauce, but we went for the ala-carte menu instead.

However service was pretty bad. We had to queue at the counter to order and even though we were seated by a waiter, he probably assumed we knew and didn't bother to tell us that. JP was queueing and the staff were "busy" and they didn't even bother asking him to wait. There were 5 people around and all of them just ignored him, and so he thought he was at the wrong counter and walked to the cashier to order. In the end the cashier told him to order at the counter he was at previously. -.-
So we weren't very impressed by this cafe but oh well, main purpose of having our tummies filled satisfied.

2nd Cafe: Patisserie G at Millenia Walk
Walked past this cafe earlier and we said to come back after having our mains for the desserts. They didn't disappoint.

A wide selection of macaroons with innovative flavors.

We wanted to pack some home and the very kind staff told us they will keep it in the fridge for us while we dine and pass to us when we're leaving so they can be chilled longer.

All of their cakes looked absolutely tantalizing and we wished we were rich enough to order one of each. Decided to try tiramisu in the end.

Looks damn good right?
JP kept hurrying me to take pictures cus he can't wait to eat it already :/
We also ordered a pot of flower tea to accompany the cake.

The lighting and ambiance is more true towards the 2nd picture. It's pretty cosy and a really nice place to just drink tea and chill.

And while we're slowly savoring the cake and tea....

:P

If I didn't remember wrongly, the flavors we got are:  Peanut Butter Chocolate / Lychee Rose /

Green Tea & Cherry / Yuzu Raspberry / Salted Hazelnut Praline

I would definitely love to go back again to try the other cakes and macaroons because they look so appetizing please. Just look at how vibrant the macaroon colors are!

After dessert we had no idea where to go so we walked aimlessly and ended up at arab street/haji lane. JP wanted to bring me to some restaurant/bar/cafe/sheesha place (i forgot the name) to rest and chill but it was full because everyone was out watching soccer that night.

Continued walking around and blisters started forming at my heel :(
Thankfully we managed to find a place that had no TV which = to no live broadcast of soccer = got seats for us = quiet place to chill.

So 3rd cafe: Eazy Eazy

We just wanted a place to sit and talk so we only ordered smoothies.

However, when they were going to close, they offered us a slice of chocolate cake on the house!
It was so nice of them! In fact, they actually asked us what cake we would like to have and recommended the chocolate cake because we didn't know what we wanted.

Just look at that huge piece of chocolate goodness!
It was rich, thick and not too sweet. The best part is that the entire slice did not crumble or fall apart when we were eating it. You know how annoying it is sometimes when you cut smaller pieces out and the slice of cake starts falling apart or the entire thing just falls to its side?  No such problem with their cakes :)

Walked around some more until it was time to go home.

It was pretty fun hopping around cafes that we didn't plan on visiting. Love the spontaneity of it and the surprise of scoring a good find.

Backdating Updates

Holy shit. I realized I haven't updated this space for more than a month....again. Was busy dealing with countless projects and exams that seemed to never end, but tada! IT"S OVER!!! Finally regained my freedom, though only for a few months.

Decided to start backdating all the updates for the past one month because so much has happened and I want to be able to keep a physical "memory" of those events.

1/4/14

Celebrated 8th Monthsary with JP with a simple dinner. Decided to settle for dinner at Watami @ Ion Orchard.

We went with the dinner set for 2 and these were what we got:

Appetizer:
Salad.

Soup/Main:
Army Stew which was damn good and satisfying.

Main:
Something salmon don I think.

Side dishes:
Hotate that was grilled to perfection and udon.

Side dish:
Fries that were good.

Side dish:
Salmon sashimi.

The army stew after stirring.

Overall it was super value for money: the serving was wayyyy more than what even JP can handle, and the food was good, actually very good. Thumbs up for a good find as a result of us walking aimlessly looking for a place to have dinner.

Impromptu date to idk where

Some really weird things had been happening to me during that period which made me pretty uneasy. It wasn't anything really bad, but just plain weird and sometimes, unlucky.

So JP decided to bring me to his temple (idk whose temple but apparently he grew up there) to pray so that I can have a peace of mind. And it was also good cus my exams were coming and we were also about to travel.

Decided to settle for late lunch/early dinner at a nearby hawker after the temple visit and we managed to score a good find again!

Salmon bento that cost $5/6 if I didn't remember wrongly.

Curry Chicken Katsu Udon that was slightly cheaper than the bento.

Again super value for money: Food was good for the price, and the portion is pretty filling.

JP being a complete nerd at 2048. He has since passed 8192.
Nerd.

The days my mum unleashed the chef in her

My mum rarely cooks due to her long working hours so having home cooked dinner is really rare at my home.

But that few days she cooked soup with ALL MY FAVOURITE INGREDIENTS!!!

Fuzhou fishballs, those red colored things that are good for the eyes, mushrooms that were a substitute for enoki because the supermarket nearby ran out of stock, tomatoes.

Daddy bought ba chor mee back for lunch because he says it's rare I'm home at lunchtime -.-

This spread was waiting for me (kept for me) when I got home at 11plus pm after dance practice in school. Needless to say I finished in seconds.

Multiple shots to show the amount of love in the soup.
ALL MY FAVOURITES DAMN!!!

Meatballs, white-crunchy-nut-looking thingy, enoki mushroom, crabsticks, red-things-that-are-good-for-the-eyes, fuzhou fish balls, tomatoes, and the substitute mushrooms.

HAHAHAHA please pardon the names. As you can already tell, I don't really cook (even if I do it's mostly 5mins cooking) so I'm not really sure what the names of the ingredients are and I am too lazy to google.

P.s. Mummy please cook me soup more often!

Ok backdated post 1 is done. I can sleep feeling a little more accomplished tonight. Lol.
