Cafe Hopping

13/4/2014

Impromptu decision to go cafe-hopping on a random Sunday.

1st cafe: doodle! & switch! at Millenia Walk

We had no specific cafes in mind to try out so we decided to just walk around anywhere and head in to any cafe that looks appropriate.

Was walking around Millenia Walk since google shows that there's quite a number of cafes there. Decided to give this a try for our mains.

Overall the food was not bad, and they had this concept of mix-and-match pasta with ingredients and sauce, but we went for the ala-carte menu instead.

However service was pretty bad. We had to queue at the counter to order and even though we were seated by a waiter, he probably assumed we knew and didn't bother to tell us that. JP was queueing and the staff were "busy" and they didn't even bother asking him to wait. There were 5 people around and all of them just ignored him, and so he thought he was at the wrong counter and walked to the cashier to order. In the end the cashier told him to order at the counter he was at previously. -.-
So we weren't very impressed by this cafe but oh well, main purpose of having our tummies filled satisfied.

2nd Cafe: Patisserie G at Millenia Walk
Walked past this cafe earlier and we said to come back after having our mains for the desserts. They didn't disappoint.

A wide selection of macaroons with innovative flavors.

We wanted to pack some home and the very kind staff told us they will keep it in the fridge for us while we dine and pass to us when we're leaving so they can be chilled longer.

All of their cakes looked absolutely tantalizing and we wished we were rich enough to order one of each. Decided to try tiramisu in the end.

Looks damn good right?
JP kept hurrying me to take pictures cus he can't wait to eat it already :/
We also ordered a pot of flower tea to accompany the cake.

The lighting and ambiance is more true towards the 2nd picture. It's pretty cosy and a really nice place to just drink tea and chill.

And while we're slowly savoring the cake and tea....

:P

If I didn't remember wrongly, the flavors we got are:  Peanut Butter Chocolate / Lychee Rose /

Green Tea & Cherry / Yuzu Raspberry / Salted Hazelnut Praline

I would definitely love to go back again to try the other cakes and macaroons because they look so appetizing please. Just look at how vibrant the macaroon colors are!

After dessert we had no idea where to go so we walked aimlessly and ended up at arab street/haji lane. JP wanted to bring me to some restaurant/bar/cafe/sheesha place (i forgot the name) to rest and chill but it was full because everyone was out watching soccer that night.

Continued walking around and blisters started forming at my heel :(
Thankfully we managed to find a place that had no TV which = to no live broadcast of soccer = got seats for us = quiet place to chill.

So 3rd cafe: Eazy Eazy

We just wanted a place to sit and talk so we only ordered smoothies.

However, when they were going to close, they offered us a slice of chocolate cake on the house!
It was so nice of them! In fact, they actually asked us what cake we would like to have and recommended the chocolate cake because we didn't know what we wanted.

Just look at that huge piece of chocolate goodness!
It was rich, thick and not too sweet. The best part is that the entire slice did not crumble or fall apart when we were eating it. You know how annoying it is sometimes when you cut smaller pieces out and the slice of cake starts falling apart or the entire thing just falls to its side?  No such problem with their cakes :)

Walked around some more until it was time to go home.

It was pretty fun hopping around cafes that we didn't plan on visiting. Love the spontaneity of it and the surprise of scoring a good find.
